Wian Carstens is a 14-year-old high school student from Durbanville. He is active, energetic, and curious, with strong interests in both sport and technology. He enjoys video games, PC hardware, and building computers, and closely follows British football, particularly the Premier League. Wian plays field hockey as both a goalkeeper and an outfield player, and also enjoys social golf. He likes playing soccer with friends at school and spends his free time mountain biking, fishing, and playing with his dog, Hunter. Musically, he plays the drums and has basic piano skills. Confident and adaptable, Wian enjoys learning new things and taking on new challenges. In addition to his sporting and technical interests, Wian is developing a strong passion for the performing arts. In 2025 he was cast as “Frikkie” in the local Afrikaans feature film Die Reuk van Appels, directed by John Trengove. He also has theatre experience and was awarded Best Supporting Actor at the Tygerberg International Eisteddfod for his role as Polisieman 2 in the Laerskool Durbanville production of Bloed is Dikker as Water (2024).
